About Me

Welcome to my blog!

I’m Elaine Giles and I’m an IT consultant based in Manchester, UK.

In my professional life I run training courses in applications for end users, develop web sites, work as a system administrator and generally undertake a myriad of other computer related tasks.

I’m also Manager of the North West Institute of IT Trainers and User Group Manager of the North West Adobe Users Group we run regular meetings so if you’re in the vacinity feel free to say Hi.

I switched to a Mac in April 2006 after what proved to be a life changing visit to an Adobe event previewing Lightroom. I can assure you working with computers has never been so rewarding nor so much fun.

I was recently interviewed on the NosillaCast Mac Podcast where I talked about my day job as a Technical Trainer, listen via the show notes page.

So that’s me and I look forward to hearing from you with your comments.

    Hi to all

Well done on your new podcast “macbites”.

Just incase you haven’t come across this little application.

In episode 5 you were talking about screen spanning, with this little app “Screen Spanning Doctor” you can enable a (PPC) G5 imac to use screen spanning (Two Monitors), works great been using for a while.

    Hi Chris

What a great tip! I don’t have a PPC Mac so I’ve never really looked for something like this but I shall certainly mention this on MacBites. I’m sure there are many people who have PPC Macs and would be thrilled to try it. I definitely couldn’t live without my second screen :-)

    Thanks again Chris

    Hi Elaine,

I listen to a few Mac based (biased?) podcasts, it’s great to hear some British voices though – particularly northern! Thanks for your efforts and I wish you the greatest success.

    Regards,
Chris – a northerner now floating on the Isle of Man.

    Hi Elaine,

I’m a new iPhone user and have been getting into listing to podcasts, especially UK Mac podcasts, on the way to work. I discovered Macbites and have been listening through the episodes, which are really informative to a relative Mac novice such as myself, and it’s also great to hear some familiar accents in Podcasts for a change.

I noticed that there’s not been a new Macbites podcast for a few months now and was wondering if it’ll be making a return in the hopefully not too distant future?

    Thanks!

    Daniel

      Hi Daniel

Finally a reply!! Hey better late than never they say ;-)

Yes, MacBites will be returning … very soon … *there I’ve said it so now it must be true*.

Seriously, it was a case of life taking over but I see daylight at the end of the long tunnel so it’s a case of watch this space, or watch Twitter – I do believe we are following each other :-)
