Affinity Publisher is fast becoming the go-to app of choice for design professionals. It’s not only feature rich but also eminently affordable with a cost effective low purchase price and no subscription to worry about.
I initially created two training sessions for Affinity Publisher, one at the beginning of the public Beta programme in August 2018 and the other as soon as it was officially released in June 2019.
However, coverage didn’t stop there! Since the initial release I’ve live streamed several more sessions covering various specific features of Affinity Publisher.

Elaine Serif should hire YOU! I hope you’ll be doing an in-depth look at data merge. I know YOU can do it justice!
Hi Elaine,
I retired 10 years ago and one of my hobbies is compiling yearbooks. I started when my dad died and I discovered 100s of photos in a trunk and I decided to create a book, which began in 1918, from them to make them more visible. As well as these earlier books I try to complete a book every year for the current year. In the main they contain pages of photos (mainly family and friends but I do include the odd news item as well) plus commentary. I use Mixbook which allows me to submit books of 399 pages per annum so they are pretty comprehensive (or boring according to some members of my family). I don’t go back and alter the design of books from previous years but I am always trying to improve the look and layout of the books I am currently working on. I have had Affinity Photo for some time but I have recently purchased Publisher and come across your excellent tutorials which have really opened my eyes to what could be possible and how I could make my books look more professional. I am reasonably happy, at least for now, on the main content and the way the photos/text is shown but I am getting quite excited on how I could improve the look of my title page, contents page, back page, summary pages etc. I haven’t really got a specific question but I just wanted you to know I am diligently working through your videos and picking up all kinds of ideas so I will be interested in anything you output in the future,
Best regards,
Michael
Dear Elaine,
As an ex-teacher I really appreciate the quality and the valuable experience behind all of your videos, they represent the very best of approaches and really delve into the many intricacies of the depths of publisher. Thank you very much for that.
I second the comment by one of your viewers that Serif themselves should employ you, or at least give you full recognition as to the useful contribution you make to the practicalities of using their software.
I appreciate that you are experienced in the production of books. As a graduate of Ventura and Indesign you will be well aware that one DTP requirement of those tackling any sort of scholarly book is that of footnotes and endnotes. A feature sadly absent in Publisher.
Many of us on the Serif Forum are anxious to see this implemented but we’ve been waiting for three years and it seems that little encouragement seems to be forthcoming from Serif.
I wonder if you could add your voice, treasured by many fans, to this feature.
My very best wishes
John Kay
Please don’t forget that Semper Fidelis (Always Loyal) comes from Latin. Since I’m Italian I feel proud and happy that from time to time someone uses Latin as the real Lingua Franca. Latin was and remains the language of scholars, scientists, doctors, musicians and artists.
And you, my dear Elain represents the Artist of desktop publishing. Thank you very much for your job, your videos and all your precious tips and teaching.
